Dental Crowns

We Provide Top Porcelain Crowns

Porcelain crowns are a durable yet aesthetically pleasing option for restoring teeth that have large restorations. When a dental filling, such as a tooth-colored filling or a metal amalgam filling is larger than the remaining natural tooth structure, the tooth is at risk for fracturing. Teeth that have had root canal therapy also require dental crowns to protect the tooth from fracturing after the root canal procedure.

How are Porcelain Crowns Made?

Porcelain crowns generally require two appointments. During the first appointment, the tooth is prepared to receive the cap-like crown. An impression of the teeth is taken, and then it is sent to the dental laboratory where the crown is made. After approximately one week, the permanent crown is then cemented to the tooth.

CEREC® technology allows him to provide his patients with beautiful porcelain crowns in one appointment. Our patients will appreciate leaving the office, only to return with a permanent restoration saving them valuable time away from work.

The CEREC® machine uses a digital impression of the prepared tooth to create a 3D image that is used to make the crown directly in our office. After a short wait time, the crown is ready to be cemented to your tooth.

Dr. Dunson has also received an IV and oral conscious sedation certificate from Miami Valley Medical College in Dayton, Ohio, making him one of the select few restorative dentists in Georgia who are certified and licensed to do IV sedation. Your treatment may be performed with IV sedation – helping patients remain relaxed during their appointment.
