Teeth Whitening

Whether you smoke, drink coffee, or take medication that discolors your teeth, you don’t have to let these activities affect the state of your smile. Using the state-of-the-art Zoom!® teeth whitening process, Dr. Dunson and his Dental Design team can dramatically brighten your smile, eliminating discolorations, stains, and signs of wear from your teeth in a short amount of time.

At our Midtown office, also serving Downtown Atlanta, Zoom!® teeth whitening sessions can be performed in about an hour. With Zoom!® you can have a beautiful, uniformly white smile that will dazzle your friends, family, and coworkers. First, Dr. Dunson will prepare your mouth for the procedure, and then apply a special whitening gel to your teeth. Next, a laser light is applied to the treated area to activate the gel, helping it to remove stains and discolorations. Porcelain Veneers

Porcelain veneers are a quick, easy solution for masking dental imperfections that can make people self-conscious in social and professional situations. In just two sessions at our Midtown Atlanta office, Dr. Dunson can place porcelain veneers to dramatically improve the shape, size, and color of your teeth for a completely natural appearance.

Porcelain veneers are ultra-thin shells of porcelain that are placed over teeth to hide chips and discolorations, fill in awkward gaps, and correct minor alignment problems. Made of natural-looking porcelain, they blend in with surrounding teeth and are custom fit to resolve your particular dental needs. Dr. Dunson will first prepare your tooth for the veneer and then make an impression of your tooth. With this impression, your veneer will be custom-made to fit perfectly over your prepared tooth. Once your veneer is ready, Dr. Dunson will bond it to your tooth.

Typically, two visits are required to place porcelain veneers: one to prepare the tooth and make the impressions, and a second visit to bond the veneers in place. However, our state-of-the-art CEREC® machine allows us to design and place porcelain veneers in just one visit. Instead of sending your impression to a dental laboratory to create your veneer, Dr. Dunson uses the CEREC® machine to make a digital impression of your prepared tooth and craft your veneer right in our office. Porcelain/CEREC® Crowns

Porcelain crowns are custom-crafted, natural-looking restorations that are placed over cracked, weakened, or decayed teeth to prevent further damage. They can also be used to secure large fillings and conceal aesthetic flaws in teeth. While dental crowns are often made from gold, silver, and even stainless steel, such materials tend to stand out and clash with the rest of your teeth. The results are often temporary and aesthetically unpleasing. Dunson Dental Design in Atlanta eliminates such issues by using porcelain crowns. Made of a translucent material designed to match your natural tooth color, porcelain crowns provide solid, long-term protection to weakened teeth while giving you a beautiful, healthy smile.

As with porcelain veneers, we can accommodate busy schedules by offering cutting-edge CEREC® restorations. CEREC® allows us to custom design, create, and place porcelain crowns in a single office visit. Through CEREC®, there is no need to wait until a second visit to have your permanent crown placed while it is created by a dental laboratory. During a single visit, we prepare your tooth and then take a digital impression to use as a guide to craft the crown. Moments later, after the crown has been custom-crafted, we place it on the prepared tooth. Many of our patients through the Atlanta area find porcelain crowns made with CEREC® technology to be a convenient method tooth restoration.

Dental Bonding

Dental bonding is a fast, painless way to fill in awkward gaps and cover over cracks and chips, giving you a smooth set of sparkling teeth that everyone will admire. The process involves the application of a special tooth-colored material to the front surfaces of the teeth to eliminate these cosmetic and structural imperfections. Guided by his keen eye for aesthetics, Dr. Dunson carefully sculpts each damaged or misaligned tooth until it appears straight, solid, and strong, fitting in seamlessly with the rest of your teeth.

Tooth-Colored Fillings

Metal fillings are the traditional response to cavities. Also called amalgams, these bits of metal are used to replace damaged tooth material removed by the dentist to stop the spread of decay. Unfortunately, amalgams are often visible and tend to stand out against your white teeth, and new cavities sometimes develop in the area beneath them. Over time, they also corrode and leak, turning silver fillings black. This discoloration can affect the appearance of the teeth, causing dark spots that detract from an otherwise perfect smile and which can’t be treated through teeth whitening procedures. At Dunson Dental Design, you can avoid such problems by opting for tooth-colored fillings made of a special porcelain-like material designed to match your natural tooth color.
